Well what a disappointing game that was. Wycombe suffered their first u16 defeat of the season in a very below par performance to miss out on another appearance at the National Finals.
The boys seem to struggle on the wide, slow, dead pitch but we certainly didn't help ourselves by giving Taunton two of their goals with silly turnovers, the first coming after only 3 minutes and the next 15 minutes later. This lead to Wycombe chasing the game and leaving gaps all over the place.
Wycombe did manage to rally for the remainder of the half and create a few chances but not really turning good possession in good positions into PC or shots on goal.
The tie was effectively over when Taunton scored scored two goals in two minutes either side of half time with two well taken PC moves to leave themselves an unassailable 0-4 lead.
Wycombe did manage to salvage some pride by pulling back two late goals themselves, the first through an excellent run from Tom Corkett slipping it past the keeper and then Sam Wagge at the far post touching in Dan Maunders shot from the PC. Final score 2-4.
Unfortunately with too many boys not playing to their full potential it was a disappointing way to bow out.
Good luck to Taunton Vale in the finals weekend though and thank you for the hospitality.
